Landslide on Laurel Canyon.

The land consumed it.

It is probably not a good thing to gloat about the destruction of a home. But last month’s rains caused the hillside behind this Laurel Canyon home to fall upon and destroy this white bunkerlike house. A man and his two children narrowly escaped. That is good–nobody died.

It may be a total loss since these types of “acts of God” are often not covered by homeowner’s insurance. This property may have been appraised at upwards of 1.2 million dollars.

For years, I drove by this white concrete box of a home. It stood behind massive iron gates and walls, a foreboading presence that seemed to be built as a challenge to nature. Dark glass picture windows and a video camera completed the pentitentiary effect. The home was sold many times. Owners passed through the house with as much frequency as a whore’s customers.

Who built this home? What kind of business were they in? Reality TV? Porn videos? Drugs? Perhaps they were just quiet, church going citizens from Ames, Iowa. Whomever they were, we mourn their loss, but secretly celebrate the destruction of one mother- fucking- ugly house.Posted by Hello
