“Engine Company No.39”

This $66,514 building at 14415 Sylvan Street, Van Nuys was dedicated on on July 25, 1939. With its late Art Moderne streamlined architecture, it is a dignified neighbor to the much grander Van Nuys City Hall across the street.

The events of September 11, 2001 have tragically and notably educated Americans on the daily sacrifices and dangers that fire personnel live with. No thinking or feeling human being can pass a fire station these days without praying for the brave firefighters (and police) who are the unselfish guardians of public safety. Posted by Hello

Very kind words; my brother is a Captain at this station, a VN High grad done good! We used to visit this station as kids – never imagine that he’d be running it one day.
