The Arab Mind.

How does one begin to understand the Arab mind? By this I mean how can we make peace with a people who never look at reality and accept it for what it is?

The recent bombings in Amman, Jordan follow the same pattern of terror that Muslim fanatics all over the world have created for the last forty years. There are daily suicide attacks in Iraq, Jordan’s next door neighbor, that kill dozens at a time. These are Muslim on Muslim killings. They are not aimed at Americans, but if some American soldiers die, the terrorists are just as happy.

In Egypt, there were bombs that went off that killed tourists and destroyed hotels. In Israel, the suicide bomber (under the sobriquet “martyr”) inflicted five years of death and terror on buses, hotels, restaurants and cafes until a big wall stopped most of the killers from crossing into the Zionist Entity. In Lebanon, civil war and Hizbollah, supported by Iran and Syria, have ruled the southern countryside, preventing normal governance by and for the Lebanese people.

Saudi Arabia, awash in oil money, supports and funds terror the world over, and creates schools that teach hatred and war. In Pakistan, the threat of a coup d’etat looms over the frail dictator whose nuclear weapons may fall into Al Quaida’s hands. In Iran, the president calls for Israel “to be wiped off the face of the earth”.

This is just a small sampling of the self-destructive violence that is endemic to Arabs, Muslims or whatever they call themselves.

Today, the New York Times has an article about how some in Jordan (poor Jordan, sad Jordan) blame Israel, yes Israel for the bombs in Amman. Here is an excerpt:

“While it appears that most Jordanians have accepted that Mr. Zarqawi was involved – with many saying they are sickened by his actions – there is little criticism for those who scapegoat Israel. A former prime minister, Tahir Masri, who said it was clear that Israel was not involved in this attack, said he understood why so many people blame Israel.

You have to understand, Baghdad was the capital for Arabs and Muslims for 1,000 years,” Mr. Masri said. “It is occupied by Americans now. Jerusalem and Baghdad are both occupied. It is too much for ordinary people to bear. If you add to it the misery that people are facing because of the lack of democracy and humiliation by their rulers, that kind of scapegoat we have to have.”

Whether it is the Sharm el Sheik bombings or the assassination of Mr. Hariri, the theory is almost always premised on two ideas. The first is a logic that says those who benefit must be behind the deed.”

Israel, hated and unaccepted, is the only democracy in the Middle East. While its treatment of Palestinians is deplorable, the nations that surround Israel are way worse in their treatment of their fellow Arabs. Jordan, in 1970, expelled the PLO and killed 35,000 Palestinians. King Hussein and now his son are rulers for life in a land that does not permit freedom of speech and religion! Syria killed the leader of the Lebanese opposition! How dare these Muslims talk of brotherhood!

Israel would bless the day that the nations around her put down their weapons and make peace. Would any nation want the entire world to curse it? How can one begin to make peace with the Arab mind, that scapegoats and blames and refuses to accept that its own appetite for worldwide terror has now come home?
