A gym friend of mine is a Behr company paint rep here in Van Nuys. I told him how I often drive by these dismal gray and tan buildings on Kester, south of Victory, and wonder why they cannot be painted colorfully?
He suggested that Behr might be persuaded to donate men and materials to paint these three buildings as both an act of community service and in the positive promotion of the brand.
Mr. Behr, are you listening?
As someone who grew up in Panorama city, I remember how much better the area (including Van Nuys) used to look. I am aghast at how the area has declined since then. I really wish there was a greater sense of pride apartment owners took in their property instead of just squeezing profits from them. I live near Sherman Way and Van Nuys and have watched the gradual increase in the number of eyesores in the area.
But if you go south of Oxnard on Van Nuys, you’ll notice how things start to look so much better all of a sudden. I just wish that trait would jump this north makes its way to where I am.
