North of Oxnard, nothing stays nice and new very long.
The new Wells Fargo at Victory and Sepulveda, painted in salsa red and fried plantain yellow to appeal to local tastes, has taken great care to install bright anti-crime lights and lots of landscaping around its streamlined facade.
But the cash strapped bank apparantly cannot afford to pick up the trash that litters its north lawn along Victory. An MTA bus stop supplies free litter to the bank. The bank lets the wrappers, soda cans and paper sit there for days, without cleaning it up.
What’s the point of building something nice and new if you can’t keep up the cleanliness?
love this blog. Just discovered. I drive around Van Nuys and the SFV thinking some of the same thoughts as you. I’ve watched SFV become a big trash can.

Kindly read my latest post, Andrew. How ironic is it that we are writing about the same things thousands of miles from each other…

No, the tree’s already that color.
I’m glad you posted about the trash, to bad I don’t think anything it’s going to get handled.

Of course, the owner of each building has to be responsible for cleaning his/her own property on a daily basis. Even somebody else’s trash, unfortunately.
Also and sadly, some pigs are all around and they just keep this attitude going, certain that there will always be someone dedicated to pick up their garbage.
A vicious circle, in other words.

I would wager a bet that most of that trash comes from passing cars and not from people at the bus stop.
