A 13-year-old boy picking lemons outside his home in Los Angeles was shot to death by an unknown killer.

The attack Thursday night in the Echo Park area is the latest in a string of shootings that have victimized young children and teens in Los Angeles in recent weeks.

Anthony Ezquiel Escobar was found lying on the ground and died at a hospital. He had been shot several times.

Police say the motive for the killing is unclear and officers are seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects.

Anthony’s cousin Heidi Aguilar told KTLA-TV that he was not gang-affiliated.
