This building on the corner of Kester and Sylvan in Van Nuys is operated by Dare Management

Dare’s website describes their founder as an “Aggressive professional and determined businesswoman, [and] a prime example of a devoted mother, flawlessly combining her family duties with her professional, social and community responsibilities.”

Congregation Rodef Sholom, Van Nuys, 1964

Once again, the San Fernando Valley Historical Society Photo Collection provides an image into a lost world. This time the subject is the 1964 lighting of the menorah for the Hanukah celebration at Congregation Rodef Sholom in Van Nuys.

A “Google” search failed to come up with any “Congregation Rodef Sholom” in Van Nuys. There is, however, another Congregation Rodef Sholom in Marin County, CA. “Founded in 1956, it’s a Reform Jewish Congregation located on the Lonee C. Hoytt Jewish Campus in San Rafael, California, and is affiliated with the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.”

In a generous and open minded Bay Area spirit, the synagogue website proclaims: “We are welcoming and inclusive, and support the development of friendships and bonds without regard to our members’ national origin, race, color, gender, marital status, sexual orientation or physical/mental abilities; and we accept and encourage a wide range of ideas and expressions of Judaism.”

We need another Rodef Sholom here in Van Nuys.
