I have bought many books at Bargain Books over the years – and they have some of the best prices and widest selections in many categories of any book store in LA.

And how is the city working against you? What is it that you need?

Please do, tell them I said hi when you stop by! I do not live in the area but I try to stay up on what is going on and I try to help them when I can.

Thank you for your remarks. I will certainly visit Bargain Books on Friar St and totally agree that a revival must come from the community not government.

There are a lot of people who love Van Nuys, decry it’s decline, and can make a difference. Hopefully, we can come together to insure positive changes.

I googled Bush Gardens in Van Nuys and found your blog. I am new to blog, but I had to respond. I am a second generation Van Nuysian and I read your comments about a possible revival. I would love to see it happen but I have little hope as I have seen so many negative changes. My family has owed a book store in VN for over 50 years and business is thining – the demographics do not support it and this medium (internet) has drastically changed the face of book sales. Talk about architecture – the building they own was built in 1918 and has had many occupants – if walls could talk – they leak but say little else. I am trying to help revive the business but the city seems to be working against us. Anyhow – please support a dying breed, go to Bargain Books on Friar St, same area as the court house and civic buildings. I loved growing up there, but I miss the old buildings and the old mom and pop businesses. A revival would be nice and maybe it could happen, but it will not happen as a result of any government action – the people need to make it happen.
