Busway Apartments in W. Van Nuys.

These modern and unique apartments are located near the Busway in Van Nuys and also take advantage of the LA River where residents can walk, bike and run along the restored riverfront.

Because LA is such an innovative city, the neighborhood council in Van Nuys used formerly desolate land along the river and created these market rental units. They range in price from $800-$1600 a month, and approximately 35% of them are subsidized. An on site day care center looks after children, and there is also a staff of nurses to help older residents.

The architects have taken advantage of our sunny climate with balconies and sheets of glass that keep the living spaces bright and open.

There are people who live here that told me they never drive anywhere. One lawyer works in downtown LA and commutes by bus and the Red Line and says the commute takes about an hour. But she reads her book and listens to music the entire time.

A tax break, enacted by Governor Schwarzenegger last year, allows residents to deduct 50% from their state taxes if they use the Busway to commute.

NOTE: None of the above is true. This building is in Copenhagen, Denmark. Well I can dream, can’t I?

I hope you read the last part of the post. It’s just a dream. It was built in Copenhagen, Denmark.

  2. You bastard, you killed my dreams!

    Just kidding.

I was racking my tiny brain, trying to remember where along the Orange Line I saw a construction site, and how I could have missed this unbelievable project.

When this project opens, it’ll be announced from the stage of the massive block party being held on the 101 on New Years Eve.

  3. Too bad Andrew, my trained eyes tolld me you were daydreaming just after the first picture. That is, you ought to be praised for the vision.
