Hussein and Hillary.

Liz Cheney, in today’s Washington Post, argues that America must stay in Iraq because:

We will have to fight these terrorists to the death somewhere, sometime. We can’t negotiate with them or “solve” their jihad. If we quit in Iraq now, we must get ready for a harder, longer, more deadly struggle later.

I agree with her. Islamists seek to destroy and murder people around the globe to advance their own power and self-interest in the name of Islam.

She argues that the terrorists are waiting for us to quit so that they can go on with their agenda and turn Iraq into the new terror capitol of the Middle East.

She also cites our “allies” Afghanistan and Pakistan who are joining the US in wiping out terror. Our nation and soldiers “ are fighting the war on terrorism with allies across the globe, leaders such as Hamid Karzai in Afghanistan and Pervez Musharraf in Pakistan. Brave activists are also standing with us, fighting for freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the empowerment of women.”

She urges us to read our soldier’s blogs because “no force on Earth — especially not an army of terrorists and insurgents — can defeat our soldiers militarily. American troops will win if we show even one-tenth the courage here at home that they show every day on the battlefield.”

She then goes to the root of her argument for why we should stay in Iraq. It all comes back to Hillary Clinton:

“I suppose Hillary Clinton’s announcement was a sign of progress. In 2007, a woman can run for president and show the same level of courage and conviction about this war many of her male colleagues have. Steel in the spine? Not so much.”

To sum up Cheney:

1. Afghanistan and Pakistan are our allies.
2. We went to Iraq to fight terror.
3. If we leave the Middle East, the Middle East will come to the Middle West.
4. Hillary Clinton doesn’t have steel in the spine.
5. Stay the course. Don’t cut and run.

Tune into the news tonight and tomorrow night and see how well Iraq is turning out.
