The prevailing mentality here in Portland seems to be that LA is an ugly brown wasteland, end of story. But while parts of LA may indeed be ugly, the city has beauty in abundance as well — as this picture shows. Portlanders should also realize there’s a lot to be said about LA’s sunny weather. Perhaps their opinions wouldn’t be so negative if they weren’t getting rained on so frequently. (I’m kinda down on Portland these days — can you tell?)
I love great museums, so I’m really looking forward to seeing the Getty, LACMA, the Hammer Museum, etc., once I’m down there. The next time they diss on LA, Portlanders should realize that their city’s museums are, well, neither abundant nor terribly impressive. (Okay, I’ll stop now.)
