Last night’s earthquake (magnitude 4.5) felt different than other recent tremors. The best way for me to describe it:
I was in bed, sleeping, and I awoke and felt like a a rocket was speeding under the house. The windows and bed shook briefly, the room rocked, and then it was over. It seemed to last for about 5-10 seconds. I knew it was a bit more powerful than the other recent shakers we’ve had here in the SFV.
I am waiting, like everyone else, for the big one to hit and hope it does not….
Woke me up, too!
I jumped outta bed so fast I forgot I didn’t have clothes on. Haha.

Actual dialog from the first few seconds of the 1994 Northridge quake:
[SFX: Low Rumble, distant car alarms…]
Me: It’s an earthquake.
[SFX: BOOOM! CRASH! SMASH! BOOM!]
Her: (Shouting over the noise) It’s the Big One!
Me: (Clinging desperately to bed) God, I hope so!
