Traffic going northbound on Van Nuys Boulevard often uses Hatteras, one block south of Oxnard, as a westbound shortcut to avoid Oxnard. The intersection of Oxnard and Van Nuys Blvd. does not have a left hand arrow signal, so cars turning westbound (left) have to wait and wait.

Residents of the quiet and well kept neighborhood south of Oxnard, west of VNB and east of Kester, now find that their district is used by speeding cars, day and night, many of which fail to stop at marked intersections.

About three years ago, the intersection of Oxnard and VNB was rebuilt with a lone palm tree on a concrete island, as sort of a “grande entrance” to the splendor of downtown Van Nuys. Strangely, the traffic design is also faulty because southbound cars wishing to go eastbound on Oxnard must go to the LEFT of the median island to make a turn.

The DOT or whomever is in charge of traffic lights, should make Oxnard at Van Nuys Boulevard a priority. The problem is so easily remedied.
